What we do

Our role is to review law, policy and practice and to advise government on what should be done to protect human rights in Northern Ireland. We also promote understanding and raise awareness of the importance of human rights through research and education. The Commission may give assistance to individuals, and bring proceeding involving law or practice relating to human rights.

We also work with the Irish Human Rights Commission on issues of common concern.
